The Observatory

The Campbelltown Rotary Observatory was commissioned in July 2000 on a hilltop behind the University of Western Sydney, Campbelltown Campus.

In 2014 it was relocated to make way for a new residential suburb.

Close to the original location (the hill was bulldozed) is now a small park with an astronomically themed sculpure display called “The Gates of Light”.

The relocated observatory is nearby.

The newly installed astro-sculptures display constellation-like features.  As reported in The Advertiser the sculptures illuminate at night.
