The Campbelltown (NSW) Civic Centre street entrance from Queen Street.
A small group of trees provides some shade and an intriguing heritage 1870s lamp standard is located among them . The plaque at the base of the column is now barely readable. It states: “This Lamp Standard, Cast In Campbelltown Over 90 Years Ago, Is Presented From The Citizens Of Campbelltown, Argyleshire, To The Citizens Of Campbelltown, New South Wales”.
The date of the plaque actually looks a bit like March 1866 – but it must surely be March 1966 – dating the pole to about the early 1870s .
